Volunteer

Volunteers play an important role at COTS. You can make a difference just by contributing your time. Please note that COTS volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work with our clients, however, even if you are younger than 18, there are still many other ways you can help. For some ideas, click here.

If you are 18 or older and wish to contribute by volunteering at COTS, the following is a list of our ongoing volunteer opportunities. We have many other volunteer opportunities as well -- just complete an application and note your interests, and we'll work to find a suitable opportunity for you!

  • • Bring and serve lunch at the Daystation for 40 to 50 people.

  • • Organize a drive for any of the items on our Wish List

  • • Assist clients with budgeting and bill paying and managing their finances on extremely limited incomes

  • • Create opportunities for us to speak to groups about homelessness in the community

  • • Organize a team for the Annual COTS Walk, which happens the first Sunday in May.

  • • Organize a team for our annual, winter Phonathon, (occurs the last week of November into the first week of December).

  • • Staff the front desk in our administrative office one morning or afternoon a week. Good
people skills necessary; social work experience preferred.

  • • Read to children in one of the family shelters

  • • Help clean up the outside and/or inside of a shelter or transitional house, spruce up the
yard, plant flowers or herbs, paint, deep clean, etc.
