COTS Joins the Parade!

The weather was about as nice as it could be — sunny skies and a balmy 34 degrees — and boy, did we have fun! It was February 23, Mardi Gras Parade time in downtown Burlington, and COTS got in on the action with a float proclaiming “Everyone Deserves a Home.”

The stellar structure was designed and built for COTS’ 25th anniversary by Jeff Densmore and Steve Elder, two talented guys from J.A. Morrissey Inc. of South Burlington, which also provided truck, driver (Steve) and decorative touches. COTS staff and volunteers of all ages staffed the float, tossing chocolates, moon pies and beads galore provided by Magic Hat Brewery, the event sponsor, to the cheering crowd.

After the parade, the structure was dropped off at the Main Street Family Shelter, where it will have a second life as an outdoor playhouse. Thanks to Steve, Jeff, Jeanne Morrissey and the entire “JAM Team” for donating their time, materials and talents to make this event possible for COTS — and for the sturdy play structure for kids at COTS!
