You Can Help: Volunteer Programs

Program Support

Streetwork Program case managers are in need of volunteers to be Payees for some of COTS clients. This position involves working one-on-one a client on money management and budgeting issues. It requires a regular weekly commitment at first and, ideally, a long-term commitment overall. For more information about the role and responsibilities, call Leigh Womack Case Management Coordinator, at 864-7402 Extension 117.

Both Family Shelters are Seeking Childcare Volunteers:

Childcare volunteers at the family shelters are always needed on a regular, ongoing basis. This requires a commitment of at least two hours a week. Experience is not necessary, but is desired. Responsibilities may include planning activities for children on and off site and providing a helping hand to parents and staff. Childcare providers are especially needed between the hours of 5 and 8 pm, seven days a week.

A 'standby' childcare provider would also be welcomed—someone able to come in on short notice for a couple of hours when a parent needs to check out an apartment or attend a job interview.

Both family shelters are also seeking volunteers for the following activities:

* Cooking & meal planning

* Nutrition & Health Programs

* Budgeting counseling & assistance

* Leading/Coordinating Field Trips in the Community

To apply for a volunteer position at the family shelters, contact Jane Ralph at 864-2649. Application, interview, references and background check are required. Application form may be downloaded from this site.
